INJURED DRIVERS FUND

Post by V819PMK on Wed May 07, 2008 11:21 am

Just posting this as an idea for supporting drivers such as Nigel Trench who was badly injured at Ipswich and is probably in need of some support financially, but there have been other not so serious incidents where drivers have been unable to work and earn afterwards. The fund could possibly be built by driver subscription (eg: £5 per driver per meeting).
As I said this is only a suggestion and I would welcome any comments from others (I might have left myself open to abuse here)

Hi Pete

Good idea mate, could also raise funds with collections? poss?
Dont know how you would stand with that though, probably have to get permission off Deane perhaps
to do it first. worth thinking about though.
See you at Aldershot behind the wheel mate?

Hi Pete, the idea in general is good but I think there's more to it than just collecting money. I'm not 100% certain but I should imagine some sort of club/association would have to be formed as collecting and distributing money would have to be shown in account form. I would also imagine that there'd be a need for a treasurer. Last but not least, I couldn't see Spedeworth allowing you to do it as there's nothing similar in place for the other formulas. On the other hand, it could be worth sounding out Spedeworth because if a club/association was set up there's endless ways to make money in order to benefit the V8 formula in general.
Are you willing to see it through if the ball could be got rolling?

Hi Ray
I understand what you are saying that it would need some proper accountabilty and regulation, but shouldn't prove too difficult to administer.I'm sure I could sort it.As far as Spedeworth are concerned, having spoken to Ray Wood the other day,he didn't think Deane would have a problem providing it was administered by ourselves and he couldn't see any conflict of interests.Iwould be happy to have a conversation with Deane and/or Janet to clarify any points they may have.

Regards
Pete

The BRIsca F1 and F2 have a Benevolent Fund which is for this purpose, The drivers do not pay a subscription towards this but the raise money through raffles and collections at most meetings. Carol Batten is in charge of the F2 one so she would be the perfect person to ask.
