Come on people a lot of effort has been put into the site it would be a shame to see it fold now especially as the racing is so exciting now. Smile

Hi Grumpy, no, it's not a case of no funds. Although it would be nice if somehow the cost of maintaining the site was covered, the reason for shutting the site down is that virtually nobody sends any info through to me. When I say 'any info', I mean silly little things like if a driver is booked in for the next meeting, not booked in for the next meeting/reason, damage to cars, etc etc. What seems like trivial information could be used in such a way that certain pages, such as 'Gossip' could be updated every day or two, thus keeping interest in the formula and site. When I started the site, a little over a year ago, I didn't mind trying to find info from whatever source,
in order to establish the site. It is now established but I think it should now be a two way thing and that info should be emailed to me. I don't intend looking anymore for info as it is too time consuming. There is also virtually no support from Spedeworth, re points charts etc not being sent to this site but they are sent to the other one.
There's still time for the site to get a repreive but for that to happen I need to start receiving emails and pictures.

Just to follow on from the post above, since putting the message on the website, only about six people have bothered to either send an email or post on here. Basically, to most it doesn't matter if it's closed down or not which again, if that's the case why should I bother?

Hi Ray

Sorry but work commitments have kept us busy for a while.I feel it would be a terrible shame to kill off
the website now you have got it so established and can only hope you have a change of heart.
I dont think you know how good it is mate!!
I think Grumpys idea of logos on the cars is a good one and would attract more people to the site which
can only be a good thing. I will try my best to help with news when i am about, and perhaps someone
could go around at meetings for you getting information etc. As for emails and photos i wouldnt be the
best to ask as its taken me an hour just to type this! But i will do my best to help in any way you want.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Post by v8funscribe on Sat May 10, 2008 7:19 pm

Hi!
I'm "Weggie" - I have a guest column in Wheelpsin Magazine; write all the meeting reports from Ipswich and also do news pieces & features for Short Circuit Magazine. I've only recently found this web-site/joined the forum, but have found it both interesting and helpful with my scribblings! So, three things, first, a big "well done" from me for all the effort you are putting in and please, if you feel you can, do keep it going! Very Happy Second, Paul Huggett (Wheelspin Editor) asked me to do a piece on Nigel Trench for the forthcoming Wheelspin which I've done, having spoken to his daughter Pippa on the pohone this morning - I've also given this web-site a plug in that article. Obviously we're all rooting for Nigel and wish him a full and speedy recovery Very Happy
Third, when I do my next Wheelspin column I'll give this web-site another mention and perhaps ask you for a couple of comments, ie so we can publicise it and the formula generally. sunny

Hope that will all help to give you some encouragement to carry on and finally, I've always been a Stock Car man at heart and love the sight and sound of a V8 engine. Older readers will recall that I was always promoting the formula way-back when Wheelpsin was a small A5 publication and I really hope that car numbers and the quality of racing continue to rise - the potential for this formula always has been awesome and if we could get regular meetings at Foxhall with consistent 30 car turnouts it would be simply tremendous!!
cheers

Weggie

coppied from sent email

Post by PRV8547 on Sun May 11, 2008 12:45 pm

Dear Ray,
just read your web sight as i do most nights and saw your announcement about closing it down. I feel this would be a great shame, i and Sarah think the sight is excellent, great fun to read, up to the minute with info for our sport, helpful to find out what's going on, and it is a credit to you.
I would be so very disappointed to see it close down, i appreciate all the hard work you have gone to to make the sight into a true ambassador for you and the V8s.
I know you haven't always had 100% support form some areas, but these are views & people not worth listening to, and every one i have spoken to about your sight has nothing but praise for it.
I would only be to pleased to contribute towards the running cost if it would help keep this great sight on the web. I understand if you feel you need to shut it down, but from me, i really hope you don't and you change your mind.
Please keep up the goodwork.
Regards Peter 547
