Rookie Championship Is GO

Post  Guest on Wed Jul 02, 2014 10:59 pm

What does everyone think of a rookie Championship run over the length of the season for the new drivers to race for as an extra incentive?

I was thinking you could offer it up to any new driver in there first full season. and those who start the season in the white grade .

for example 2014 rookie class would have been so far :

277 karl Turner
348 David Williamson
3 Andy Faggerter
35 Bruce Jopling
135 Roy Williams
plus any new drivers who races before the start of 2015.

And drivers eligible for 2015 so far would be: ( because they have not raced a full season in the v8's yet)

3 Andy Faggerter
35 Bruce Jopling
135 Roy Williams
plus anyone who starts 2015 as a white grade driver, or joins the formula at any time before the start of 2016.

opinions?

Great idea mate , what would you think a good prize would be? we could all chip in and make it something special for them.
Do you have any ideas like you say ie a season long thing plus meeting incentives?

This sounds like a good idea. Especially as there could be a few more new drivers soon.

hi chaps, think it will be a great idea, dont bother with cash incentives, most drivers love a nice trophy, remember the white/yellow top awards they used to do a few years ago for best /top points scorer on the night,or say oil as the beales offer to drivers,i would be over the moon to win a bit of silver to annoy the missus with, sreiously tho, good idea, and ps can someone please spell my name right, its jopling, not joblin/joplin,cheers

Sorry Peter but you were not eligible for the rookie champuonship this year. This is not your first full season and I didn't think you started the season as a white grade driver.

Brad just a question about rookie championship is it open to all drivers ie hire car and day licence drivers or only spedeworth reg drivers ??
Also it's a good idea for the new guys as we won't beat the guys that been at it for years and at least we can have something to work for even if it's just a roof colur to show that won the rookie champion 2015

I think it should be open to hire car drivers and day licence users. As long as the driver has not raced a full season in the V8's.
I am going to try and raise funds for a nice trophy for the champipnship.

started v8 s 2014 with full license as white grade .when had hire car off terry was not in a grade so had to start at back 1st time out . I think all hire cars and d/l should start off the back .that's what happens in other formals .until full license taken out

20.00 towards your fund .

I have just got off the phone with Gavin at Spedeworth HQ.

I asked how they would grid day license and hire car users at forthcoming meetings.?

Answer:

Spedeworth will try to place day license driver / hire car users in a appropriate grade for the races. ie: if a Superstox / rod formula Blue grade driver hires a car they will be given a similar grade in the V8's.

The only time this will differ is if a car is being driven with the wrong roof grade they will be sent to the rear of the field.

This is not a rule and spedeworth will use there discretion on making these decisions.Gavin has also said they well be evaluating every driver on a case by case basis. I would like to think that Spedeworth will be fair in there assessment and may also encourage drivers to give the v8s a go this year. Please note this is their decision and not mine.

Fair enough at least we know a blue top superstock driver won't start as a white top as they have had the experience of racing anti clockwise unlike me raced clockwise for a while big change in driving style but in time it will get easier I hope

Yep that's right. 1st 2nd and 3rd in this years inaugural Rookie Championship will receive a trophy. Hopefully this will encourage new drivers to try out our formula.
